Your Money is Safe at St. Paul Federal Credit Union.

Recent woes of many banks have resulted in many of our members calling us regarding the security of their savings at St. Paul Federal Credit Union.  Your accounts with us are insured by The National Credit Union Association (NCUA).

NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson stated recently "Members deposits in federal and almost all state chartered credit unions are insured up to at least $100,000 per account with additional coverage up to $250,000 for certain retirement accounts.

The National Share Insurance Fund is in strong condition.

Members still concerned regarding the insurance coverage on their deposits should visit NCUA's website at www.ncua.gov. Their website contains not only good information on your insurance, but also can help you calculate how much coverage you do have on all of your accounts with St. Paul Federal Credit Union.

cartrans.jpg0% Car Loans...Too Good to be True?

The old adage, if it seems too good to be true it probably is, holds true when deciphering the 0% car loans being offered by virtually all car dealers these days. The truth is you may be better off with conventional auto financing from your credit union. Here are just a few reasons why:

  • Dealers' 0% down and special rebate offers are most often available on less popular models, which in turn means lower resale values.
  • Dealers' 0% financing and/or low rates may have bigger prepayment penalties and may require larger down payments.
  • Dealer finance plans are limited to what is in stock, which means you get what they have, so you might not get the color or options you are looking for. Of course, you can add-on options and add 25%-30% more to the sticker price of your car!
